Week 8 @ Splash RV Resort – Lights, Burritos & Karaoke Nights!

Well folks, it’s officially Week 8 at Splash RV Resort in Milton, CO. If you had told us we’d be this fancy with outdoor Christmas lights, burrito pilgrimages to the coast of Florida, and karaoke under the stars, we would’ve laughed… then hung the dang lights ourselves anyway!

Cory Turns the Big 3–8!

Cory hit 38 this week, and WOW… how rude of time to move that fast. Every time one of the kids has a birthday, I’m personally attacked because I immediately start doing math about my own age and regret everything 🤣 One of his coworkers made a hilarious AI image with two versions of Cory — one early 30s and one VERY “seasoned” late 30s Cory. Let’s just say… the gray hair and wrinkles showed up like they were clocking in for a full-time job. We laughed way too hard!

Cards, Lights & Fancy Vibes

We kicked off the week at the clubhouse playing cards with Janet & Don—classic decks, questionable strategy, lots of laughs. Then, because we are now officially fancy RV decorators (yes, that’s a job title), we strung up our Christmas lights around the rig. Between you and me, not even Martha Stewart could compete with our glowing masterpiece 🌟 We were convinced Santa would stop by for spiked hot cocoa.

Road Trip: Milton → Destin, FL

We loaded up the truck for a day trip to Destin, Florida, and oh boy, the Christmas decor in their outdoor mall was picture-perfect cheesin’ material. We had grand plans for the pier (sand + sea + selfies), but parking and crowds had other ideas, so we detoured to find lunch—priorities, right?

➡️ Burrito del Sol saved the day with MASSIVE burritos that basically hugged our faces.

To burn those tortillas off (kinda), we walked it out at Captain Leonard Destin Park—a sweet waterfront stroll with views for days.

On the way back to Splash, we spotted some epic Christmas displays and a truly (truly) magnificent water tower—your new favorite roadside attraction, no question.

Lunchin’ & Sippin’ in Milton

Later in the week, we met Janet & Don for lunch at Blackwater Bistro—a spot we’ve been dying to try since our January visit. It lived up to the hype! Darren demolished a juicy burger, and I had shrimp and grits that deserved a standing ovation.

After that, we moseyed over to Prost Office Brewery for some craft beer sampling—so legit, they’ve got brews that taste like cozy conversations in a pint glass 🍺 Then on to Gulf Coast Garage, another delightful beer stop before rounding the afternoon off with a stroll along the Blackwater River to admire the Christmas lights.

Firepit & Karaoke Night

Cue the cozy vibes! We joined the gang in the Bier Garden for a firepit night complete with karaoke shenanigans. Turns out, campfire flames + questionable mic skills = absolute crowd favorites. (Or maybe we were the crowd? Hard to say.)

Pool Day Fun

And can’t forget our warm weather pool day featuring Darren on various floaties, because sunny days deserve silly photos and zero apologies.

Our second-to-last week at Splash RV Resort was packed with good food, great friends, and just the right amount of festive sparkle. From birthday laughs to beachside burritos, brewery hopping, and firepit sing-alongs, we’re clearly staying very busy in this so-called “relaxed” RV life… and honestly, we wouldn’t have it any other way.
