January 2025: Greetings (again) from sunny Milton, Florida! The weather finally decided to play nice as our next week at Splash RV Resort started in full-force. With temperatures flirting between the mid-60s and mid-70s, it was almost pool time—but not quite swimsuit season yet. So, we traded in our pool floats for e-bike adventures and a smorgasbord of resort activities.
E-Bike Escapades: Hitting the Trails
Our e-bikes have become our trusty steeds, leading us to the picturesque Blackwater Heritage State Trail. This 8.1-mile paved path starts in Milton and stretches north, eventually connecting to the 1.5-mile Military Heritage Trail at Naval Air Station Whiting Field - which was impassible (because, uh, military). The trailhead was just a short 6.3-mile ride from the resort, making it our go-to route for daily explorations. With its flat terrain and scenic views, it was perfect for us casual riders and offered a delightful way to experience Florida's natural beauty.
Resort Shenanigans: Activities Galore
Splash truly outdid itself our entire stay with its lineup of activities that could make a cruise director blush. Our favorites this week included:
Karaoke Nights: I continued to belt out tunes at the clubhouse and discovered that our neighbors really can carry a tune - or at least carry on with enthusiasm.
Potluck Events: These gatherings became a culinary adventure, with everyone showcasing their signature dishes. We swapped recipes, stories, and maybe a few stretchy pants.
Bingo and Bunko: Whether it was the thrill of shouting "Bingo!" or the fast-paced fun of Bunko, our competitive spirits (espcially Darren's) were thoroughly entertained.
Trivia Nights: We tested our wits and learned that while we might not know everything, we sure know how to have a good time trying!
Saturday Night Fever: Karaoke at The Country Gym

In our quest to take my karaoke skills to the next level, we ventured to The Country Gym in Milton. Located in the historic district of original downtown Milton, this "family-friendly" bar and grill offered a rowdy atmosphere with fast service, a great beer selection, and lots of people watching. We were late to the party but found seats outside of the Karaoke area. Fortunately our table gave us a front row view of some serious pool hustling. People watching in a small town is always a good time!
Downward Dog Debut: Darren's Yoga Journey

I convinced Darren to join me at the clubhouse guided yoga sessions. After watching the first session and noticing an older gentleman twisting and stretching, Darren decided it was time to trade his recliner for a yoga mat. His inaugural attempt at yoga was nothing short of entertaining. Between discovering muscles he didn't know existed and mastering the "falling tree" pose, laughter was the soundtrack of the session. Kudos to Darren for stepping out of his comfort zone and into a world of flexibility—both physical and mental.
As we continue our adventure at Splash RV Resort, we're grateful for the warm weather, welcoming community, and the endless opportunities to create memories.
Here's to more trails, tunes, and tasty treats in the weeks to come.
Cheers!
