January 2025: Sometimes, you roll into an RV resort and immediately feel like you've landed in a little slice of paradise. Other times, you realize that while the resort is great, the surrounding area might not be overflowing with adventure options. Welcome back to Splash RV Resort in Milton, FL—where the weather was perfect, the pool was heated, and we found ourselves biking the same trail over and over (and over) again. But hey, we made the most of it, and we had some amazing experiences along the way!
The Great Outdoors (Or At Least, One Trail)
As mentioned in our last post, the Blackwater Heritage Trail quickly became our go-to for morning and afternoon bike rides. Not because it was the best trail in Florida, but because it was the trail in the area. Thankfully, it was a good one - smooth, scenic, and just the right length to feel like we earned our post-ride beers.
Speaking of fitness, we decided to shake things up and joined water aerobics in the heated swimming pool at the resort. Imagine a group of determined (but slightly uncoordinated) adults bouncing around in the water while trying to look graceful. Spoiler alert: I did not look graceful, but I did get a solid workout.

Yoga, but Make It a Habit
We also kept up with our multi-day yoga sessions in the resort’s clubhouse. This quiet, air-conditioned space was perfect for stretching and moving. My tight hip flexors are still skeptical, but they’re coming around. Plus, it was a great way to start the day before heading out on our adventures.
Day Trips & Local Discoveries
To break up our biking routine, we ventured out into the surrounding towns for some good ol’ fashioned exploring (and, let’s be honest, eating and drinking).
Brewery Hopping
We checked out two local breweries:
The Prost Office (Milton, FL) – A clever name and an even better beer list. Housed in a former post office, this spot delivered (get it?) some solid brews.
Ye Olde Brothers Brewery (Navarre, FL) – A cozy little brewery with a laid-back vibe, great pizza, and some solid craft beers. Worth the stop if you’re in the area!
Pensacola Adventures
We spent a day in Pensacola, which included a trip to the farmers market (because who doesn’t love fresh, local goodies?) and wandering through some beautiful old churches downtown. Nothing like a little history, architecture, and fresh produce to balance out all the beer.
Seafood and Colorado Friends
Over in Navarre, we had some killer seafood at Where Y’at - a Cajun-inspired spot that did not disappoint. If you’re ever in the area, do yourself a favor and order something smothered in butter and spices.
Even better, we got to catch up with our friends Jeremy and Tracey, who relocated to Navarre from Colorado last year. A fantastic dinner, plenty of laughs, and a reminder that no matter where we travel, it’s always the people that make the experience.
DIY Haircare: A Magenta Mishap (That Actually Worked?)
In a moment of questionable decision-making, I decided to bleach my roots and refresh my magenta hair - without professional help. Was it a risk? Absolutely. Did I momentarily panic when my hair turned a shade not found in nature? You bet. But somehow, it all came together, and I’m back to rocking vibrant locks!

Wrapping Up Our Splash Stay
While Milton itself might not have been overflowing with adventure, we made it our own kind of fun. Between the bike rides, beers, yoga, aerobics, and my minor hair experiment, it was a memorable stop on our Chasing 78° journey.
Now, on to the next adventure!
Cheers!
