Week six at Splash RV Resort in Milton, Florida had everything: beach miles, broom-powered heroics, potluck-level chaos, and just enough karaoke chaos to keep things spicy. Here’s how our week unfolded…
Beach Day, Bike Style
The first half of the week started with a classic road trip to the coast. We loaded up the bikes and headed to Navarre Beach Pier, which stretches more than 1,500 feet into the emerald-green Gulf of Mexico and just happens to be the longest in Florida.
From there, we biked through quiet beach neighborhoods and cruised along the road toward Gulf Islands National Seashore—one of those “how is this real life?” kind of places.
White sand, gentle waves, breezy sunshine… you know, the kind of beach day that makes you forget what day of the week it is. The water was still a bit chilly, but the vibes were perfect for a lazy afternoon.
On the way back, we made a spontaneous lunch stop at a place that’s been taunting us since February. Every time we drove by while it was under construction, we’d say, “We should try that when it opens.” Well… we finally did. Happy Joe’s in Navarre delivered in the best possible way with a shared taco pizza—crispy crust, seasoned beef, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese… basically everything good in life on one plate.
Community Service… The Darren Edition
Back at Splash, Darren took on some very unofficial (but very appreciated) community service. The bike path (sidewalk) to the brick trail we love had become a sandy obstacle course, so he biked down with shovels and brooms and went full maintenance mode. By the time he was done, the path was smoother, safer, and officially Darren-approved for riders and walkers alike. Not all heroes wear capes—some carry brooms.
Thanksgiving, Potluck Style
We stayed at Splash for Thanksgiving, which meant one thing: the park’s massive Thanksgiving potluck. And when I say massive, I mean the largest turnout they’ve ever had. We contributed my very “homemade” stuffing (shoutout to Stovetop) in a giant disposable 9x13 pan.
By pure luck, our table got called first. We made the rounds before anything was picked over and left absolutely stuffed. The only downside? No leftovers. None. Not a crumb.
So… the next day, I fixed that little problem by making our own turkey dinner with all the fixings.
Because Thanksgiving deserves an encore.
Friends, Firepits & Fancy Shots
Our friends DeeDee & Jim had friends in from Texas staying in the cabins over the holiday weekend, so naturally we all gathered for a firepit night. There were smoked meats, sweet treats, and just enough holiday libations to make things extra festive.
They also introduced us to something dangerous: Chocolate Crown Royal shots. And when you add RumChata? Friends… it tastes exactly like Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Dessert in a shot glass. You’ve been warned.
Holiday Vibes at Splash
Splash went all out with holiday décor—Thanksgiving warmth mixed with early Christmas cheer. The common areas were beautifully decorated, and the park had events lined up for both holidays. It felt cozy, festive, and just the right amount of “campground Hallmark movie.”
Karaoke Chaos (With Props)
We hit another karaoke night—this time with blow-up guitars that I brought along for fun. The kids had an absolute blast with them… but let’s be honest: I stole the show with a wicked "air-guitar" solo. No strings, no shame, all rock star.

Music Bingo & a YMCA Moment
We wrapped up the week with music bingo, which is exactly as fun as it sounds. At one point, I caught the perfect shot of DeeDee mid-YMCA—arms up, full commitment, zero regrets. Honestly, it was the perfect ending to a week full of laughs.

Week six gave us beach miles, good food, great friends, and just enough holiday chaos to remind us why we love this lifestyle. From taco pizza to turkey round two, and from community cleanups to Cinnamon Toast Crunch shots… Splash continues to deliver the memories.
Cheers!
