October 2024: Well, friends, the day finally arrived! We packed our lives into our Brinkley fifth wheel, waved goodbye to the lake house, and hit the highway. And naturally, our first big adventure began with us creeping down I-25 in the world’s slowest-moving RV parade (thanks, Denver traffic). But hey, it’s all about the journey, right?
Our first stop brought us to Colorado Springs, where we set up camp with some friends. We parked the rig, cracked open a cold one, and hopped on our bikes to explore. A little brewery-hopping, a lot of catching up, and we were feeling like seasoned RVers in no time.
Then it was off to Taos! Talk about a change of scenery. The red rocks and mountains practically called us out for long, scenic bike rides. Taos is like one big art walk, where you can find street murals around every corner and local artists putting their stamp on anything that will hold paint. The farmers market was brimming with local flavor too—produce as colorful as the people selling it. We even enjoyed a little excursion to the Gorge over the Colorado River with a stop at the “mother ship” for Taos Mesa Brewing for a flight of yummy beers and a GIANT pretzel!

Another major highlight was our visit to the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum. Her landscapes and flower paintings brought New Mexico’s desert beauty to life in a way that felt both surreal and incredibly personal.
After a few days of soaking up the Taos vibe, we set our course for Santa Fe and settled in for a full two-week stay. And friends, this place has got it all. We hit up a Santa Fe farmers market, where we found some keepsake treasures, fresh bread, and enjoyed perusing all the vendor stalls. From there, we dove into the local art scene: beautiful Catholic missions, like the adobe beauty of San Miguel Chapel, and an unexpected quilt art installation at the New Mexico State Capitol. I didn’t know quilts could be so mesmerizing—but leave it to Santa Fe to surprise us!

And then, we took things up a notch with a trip to the original Meow Wolf—a sensory overload that is part art exhibit, part interactive playground, and all kinds of trippy. It was like stepping into a different universe where reality and imagination blend together, and we’re still trying to make sense of it!
So, here we are, a couple of weeks in and fully immersed in the RV life. The rig is holding strong, the food and beer are fantastic, and every turn seems to bring something new. Where to next? Stay tuned to find out!
Cheers to the road ahead!
