December 2024: Howdy from the dusty trails of San Elizario, TX! Still on our way to the rolling hills of New Braunfels, we decided to pull over at Licon Dairy, a Harvest Host that brought us equal parts queso and chaos (the good kind).
If you’re looking for a mix of farm-fresh snacks, adorable animals, and a little roadside charm, this spot is for you.
🦙 Petting Zoo Shenanigans
This is no ordinary dairy—it’s also home to the cutest little petting zoo! From goats who think they’re professional models to alpacas with undeniable attitudes, we had a blast meeting the furry locals. And yes, we may have spent way too much time attempting to out-stare the ostrich. Spoiler alert: Ostriches are undefeated.
🌶️ The Star of the Show: Chile con Queso
Forget roadside snacks; we’re all about Chile con Queso now! This stuff was rich, creamy, and had just the right kick of spice to make your taste buds salsa. We also snagged a pack of homemade tamales destined to be devoured at our next campsite.

🚐 Harvest Host Perks
Harvest Hosts stops like Licon Dairy are the perfect way to park and explore somewhere unique without the usual campground vibe. You get to support local businesses, meet amazing people, and - if you’re lucky - leave with queso AND a llama selfie.

🤠 Final Thoughts
If you find yourself in West Texas, make a beeline for Licon Dairy. Whether you’re here for the queso, the tamales, or the llama drama, you’re in for a treat.

Cheers!
