November 2024: Our first week at the Pechanga RV Park in Temecula, CA, has been nothing short of an adventurer's paradise. With stunning views, perfect weather, and a whirlwind of activities, we’ve officially kicked off this chapter of our RV life with style, carbs, and plenty of laughs.
Pedaling into Local Life
As usual, we started the week by hopping on our bikes and cruising through the nearby neighborhoods. This wasn’t your average leisurely ride—it was more like a scenic reconnaissance mission. Cute houses, festive decorations, and a little sweat equity later, we had officially wheeled ourselves into local life.
Cheers to New Discoveries
On a mission to find craft beer (because we’re nothing if not on brand), we stumbled upon a hidden gem: Ebullition Brew Works. This brand-new tasting room was serving up flights of fantastic brews paired with the most epic giant pretzel we’ve ever seen. Served with stone-ground mustard with a chase of beer cheese, it was a carb-lover’s dream and the ideal fuel for, well, more beer tasting.
Day Trip: Sunsets & Surprises
Midweek we took a road trip to Carlsbad that turned into a highlight reel of perfection. We started at Pizza Port Brewing Company, where the beer was cold, the pizza was divine, and the cheesy garlic bread was chef’s kiss. If there’s a heaven for carb lovers, it probably looks a lot like this place.
One of the highlights of the trip was discovering Carlsbad’s vibrant street art and murals. Tucked away on side streets and adorning shop walls, these colorful works of art brought the town’s personality to life. Every mural felt like an invitation to pause, admire, and maybe snap a photo (or ten). Each piece told a story, and together, they added to Carlsbad’s charm
We made it to the beach just in time for a postcard-worthy sunset. As if on cue, a small pod of dolphins swam by, completely upstaging the sky’s golden glow. Unfortunately, we were so caught up in the moment, we missed getting photos of the dolphins – but that sunset was beautiful!!
As it got darker, we made our way to The Coyote Bar & Grill for live music, where Whiskey Heat was planning to tear up the stage. Fun fact: we met their drummer, Dirk, on our last trip to Kauai. He remembered me and asked if I wanted to sing a few songs with them. Twist my arm! A couple of performances later, I’m pretty sure I’m an honorary band member now.
Casino Sundays & Christmas Magic
Sunday breakfast at Pechanga Casino with my parents was a treat in more ways than one. The food and service? Fantastic. The holiday decorations? Spectacular. Think gingerbread houses that could give the witch from Hansel & Gretel a run for her money and trees decked out with so much sparkle even Clark Griswold would be impressed. It was the perfect blend of Christmas cheer and culinary indulgence.
Old Town Charm
Later that day, we strolled through delightfully decorated Old Town Temecula, where every shop seemed to whisper, “Stay a while.” From quirky knick-knacks to charming boutiques, it was a delightful afternoon of treasure hunting. The parents loved it, and so did we.
Wrap-Up
Our first week in Temecula has set the bar high for this leg of our journey. Between bikes, brews, beaches, and Christmas trees, it’s safe to say we’re thriving here in the 78° life. Temecula, you’ve been good to us—we can’t wait to see what next week holds!
