November 2024: Greetings, fellow wanderers!
We recently parked our home-on-wheels at the lovely Canyon RV Park in Corona, CA, for a couple of weeks filled with family, sunsets, and enough tacos to fuel a small mariachi band. Nestled right off the Santa Ana River, this spot gave us the perfect blend of nature’s beauty and access to family adventures.
A Family Reunion to Be Thankful For 🍂
One of the biggest highlights of this trip was having all three of our sons together in California for an early Thanksgiving at Grandpa and Grandma’s house. The youngest and the oldest flew in from Colorado and the middle from Seattle.
We planned to have our Thanksgiving meal on Veterans Day. That morning, the guys packed up some beach chairs and headed to the coast for a morning in the sun with Grandpa. The weather couldn’t have been more cooperative—it was warm enough for them to play in the sand and the shorebreak but cool enough to keep comfy. Grandpa and his buddies regaled the crew with their stories, and they managed to get a photo with Grandpa that wasn’t half bad.
Meanwhile, Grandma and I prepared the Thanksgiving feast. Turkey breast, mashed potatoes, and stuffing – oh my! We made all the fixings and had everything ready to go when the gang returned from the beach.
With full bellies and fuller hearts, we shared stories, laughter, and a reminder of why holidays are best spent around loved ones.
Taco Tuesday Triumph 🌮🎉
No visit to Southern California is complete without indulging in Taco Tuesday! We gathered with the family and my parents' good friends for a fiesta filled with laughter, salsa, and some truly epic tacos. It was a lively evening that reminded us just how delicious life can be when you’re surrounded by good food and even better company.

Sunset Serenades and “Starry” Nights 🌅✨
The view from my dad’s neighborhood didn’t disappoint with its nightly show of stunning sunsets painting the sky in hues of orange, pink, and pale blue. After the sun slipped below the horizon, the night sky offered a sparkling view of the city below. However, due to good ole' light pollution, the headlights and taillights running along the 91 freeway were as close as we could get to stargazing.
The Final Word
Our first week at Canyon RV Park was a mix of relaxation, family bonding, and making memories under the California sun and moon. The boy’s visit was way too short (only 4 days in Cali) and we are looking forward to seeing them when we’re back in each of their areas. My Dad is still reminiscing about having them in California with us all at the same time! 💜
