June 2025: We’ve officially set up shop in Loveland, Colorado, and while it might be our first week here, it certainly won’t be our last. This cozy corner of Northern Colorado is already keeping us on our toes, buzzing with summer energy, carb-loading temptations, and...a lot of engine noise. Buckle up, folks. Week one came in hot!
The RV Park: Friendly, Leafy, and a Little Loud
Loveland RV Resort greeted us with buddy sites, which means you get to park your rig right next to a stranger and share a slice of grass and mutual suspicion until you're comfortable borrowing sugar or propane. (Honestly, we’re probably the weird neighbors, but we bring snacks, so it evens out.)

We’re parked just steps away from a shopping center that hits all the high notes:
Panera, where we joined the Ultimate Sip Club because we take our hydration very seriously. Unlimited charged lemonades = unlimited questionable decisions.
In-N-Out Burger, which has already seen us too many times. For research. For science. For animal-style fries.
And more - like a Target, a HomeGoods, and a mysterious storefront labeled “Ziggi’s.” Still deciding if it’s coffee or a cult.
The park itself is packed with perks:
Heated pool for soaking away our regrets (and burnt burger calories)
Mini golf, where the course is tiny but the competition is fierce
Beautiful mature trees offering delicious shade - and a full-on aphid metropolis.
Bonus: the ladybugs have moved in like little aphid-snacking heroes. Nature is thriving, y’all.
And then there’s the soundscape.
Let’s just say: if you’ve ever wanted to fall asleep to the soothing sounds of 17-year-olds revving their freshly-modded Civics while their girlfriends scream “DO A BURNOUT!”… we know just the place. There’s a “drag strip” between the park and the shopping center, and the local “car culture” and “bullet bikers” seem to invite a lot of screeching tires and existential questions like, Why is this happening at 1:30 a.m.?
Dinner + a Hug with Logan
We finally reunited with our youngest son, Logan, and it was like Christmas, but with less wrapping paper and more hugs. We met up for dinner, swapped stories, and picked up a small mountain of mail. There’s truly nothing like a Logan hug after some time apart — 10/10, highly recommend.

Back in the Saddle (eBike Edition)
It was time to shake off the burgers and pedal some peace back into our legs. Thankfully, Kyger Open Space and the Poudre River Trail delivered fresh air, winding paths, and more bugs-in-the-face than anticipated.
Kyger Open Space is a hidden gem just west of Windsor, offering gravel trails through protected wetland and prairie. Birds? Yes. Tranquility? Also yes. Wi-Fi? Not a chance.
Poudre River Trail (pronounced POO-der, yes really) runs for 21 scenic miles between Greeley and Windsor. We biked a portion near River Bluffs Open Space — wide paths, cottonwoods, and more than a few fellow pedalers who take themselves very seriously. (Matching kits AND pace lines, people. Settle down.)
All in all, our first week in Loveland served up a strong cocktail of nostalgia, nature, noise, and nitrates. Between bug drama in the trees, rev-happy teenagers, and quality time with Logan, we’re feeling grateful, giggly, and slightly over-caffeinated thanks to Panera’s bottomless beverages.
Week one is in the books. Let’s see what next week brings (fingers crossed for fewer aphids, more ladybugs, and a slight reduction in tire screeches).
Cheers!
